HOLY NAME OF JESUS SCHOOL: GENERATIONS STRONG
Founded in 1867, Holy Name of Jesus School is steeped in the traditions of the Catholic Church.
The school's primary mission is to help each child to understand and practice Roman Catholic values and traditions. Holy Name's proximity to and partnerships with Elms College and Assumption Parish have led to the neighborhood's unofficial distinction as the "Catholic Community of Chicopee Center." With Holyoke Catholic High School soon to open, the city's Catholic learning community continues to build around a school and parish that are generations strong.
A VIBRANT COMMUNITY:
| Students are full participants in mass as altar servers, readers and members of the children's choir. In addition, they participate in several community service projects including food collections, bottle-top and can-tab drives for Shriners Hospital, and sending cards to elderly and infirm parishioners. After school, students participate in activities such as Tutoring, Drama, Scrap booking, and Drumming. This year, HNS will sponsor both boys and girls C.Y.O. basketball teams.

SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH ELMS COLLEGE
The special relationship between Holy Name School and Elms College has grown and strengthened over the past several years. Shared values and close proximity between the two Catholic institutions has fostered a unique relationship, and led to the strong presence of the Elms community at Holy Name. Elms College students staff the Collaborative Learning Center at Holy Name School. The Center provides diagnostic and therapeutic programs for every student in areas such as speech and hearing, reading, and individual counseling.
Each year students from the Elms College Campus Ministry Program organize an Easter egg hunt for the younger students and create a "Haunted Hall" for Halloween. Elms Blazers have even conducted basketball clinics for the new Holy Name CYO basketball teams.
OLDEST SCHOOL IN THE SPRINGFIELD DIOCESE | Holy Name School, the oldest Catholic school in the Diocese of Springfield, incorporates traditional Christian values into everyday living and learning. With an emphasis on whole student development, HNS helps students to grow spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally. A challenging curriculum allows students to succeed in the classroom and to bring fundamental learning skills to high school, college and beyond. Art and music encourage the development of each child's creativity, while physical education classes promote health awareness, positive lifestyle and exercise. |
MISSION STATEMENT OF HOLY NAME OF JESUS SCHOOL Holy Name of Jesus School, founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1867, offers quality Catholic education to students in Pre-K through Grade 8 in a Christian and welcoming environment. We are committed to nurturing the children entrusted in our care and educating them spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. We provide a solid basic foundation for future learning. We challenge students to be compassionate and understanding of their sisters and brothers in a world where diversity is not always tolerated.
